The  Rxsol -16-1007-025 to be used depends on two factors: the volumetric capacity of the filter to be cleaned and the degree of deposition/contamination in the filter. RXSOL -16-1007-025 use by the circulation or immersion method. If using the circulation method, determine the filter capacity and circulate at a constant rate for 6–20 hours. If using the immersion method, let the filter soak in enough quantity of Rxsol -16-1007-025, analogous to the degree of contamination, for a time of 6–20 hours. The Temperature of Cleaning solution should not be allowed to exceed 60 °C.

Cleaning process and requirement of time  depends on the type of the contamination. With fuels recipitation of paraffin and asphalt or with lubricating oils mixing of different types of oil can form solid encrustations on the mesh.

RXSOL -16-1007-025 can be undercooled or overheated during storage but remains fully usable when returned to normal temperature.
MESH CONTAMINATED WITH HEAVY OIL:

Elements contaminated with heavy oil must be soaked in a standard commercial aromatic solvent. After soaking the elements are cleaned by high pressure Cleaning Device using RXSOL-16-1095-025 solution.

The dosage rate is dependent on bioler operating condition, feed 2-3 ltrs of RXSOL-50-5001-025 solution for per thousand ltr of bioler water then control the system by periodic Alkalinity test procedure.   1. Measure 10 ml of SAMPLE WATER in graduated TEST TUBE / CYLINDER
  2. Add 1-2 drops of  RXSOL TK7 and mix with the stirring rod , If  sample turns red / PINK ( which indicates presence of p-Alkalinity ) then follows 3rd step otherwise if sample remains colourless ( Record p-Alkalinity = 0 ) then proceed to STEP- 4.
  3. Add RXSOL TK9  drop by drop ( by counting ) , mixing with the stirring rod until colour just disappears. Each drop is equivalent to 15 ppm of p-Alkalinity , expressed as CaCO3
  4. Add 2-3 drops of RXSOL TK8 and mix with stirring rod , the sample will turn to BLUISH-GREEN .
  5. AddRXSOL TK9 carefully by counting drop by drop and mixing throughly until a light reddish  pink  colour develop.

RESULT  : Each DROPS is equivalent to 25 PPM of Alkalinity .

Chemical feed should be continuous. Chemical pumping rates can create problems especially for neat feed set ups. Using on/off feed systems such as a recycle timer can create problems. Chemical feed pumps should be sized or product strengths should be adjusted to allow continuous feed.

Steam and carbon dioxide leave continuously, so setting up a neutralizing amine pump to feed intermittently can lead to wide variations in condensate pH control. If sampling is done from a condensate receiver, the tank volume may buffer the variations and the changes may not be noticed, but corrosion could be occurring to areas of the piping that see the rapidly changing pH.

If polymeric dispersants, phosphonates, phosphate, or chelants are fed intermittently into the feedwater using a recycle timer, and the amines are not fed continuously, a cycle of iron slugs returning in the condensate can be followed by slugs of high dispersancy cleaning of the iron from the deaerator and dragging it into the boiler.

Load changes can affect chemical concentrations when the chemical feed is base fed. Example: Steam production of one million lbs./day; 4% blowdown; 20% active boiler polymer product fed at 5 pounds per day. The calculated daily average polymer concentration would be 24 ppm. Assume peak plant production load is 60,000 lbs./hr., but during the overnight hours the load is only 5,000 lbs./hr. If the dispersant is being fed continuously over the 24 hours, during the 8- hour low load period, the boiler polymer concentration would have increased to over 200 ppm. Upon high fire when production resumes, carryover is very possible because of over concentrating the polymeric dispersant.

Chemical feed needs to be paced to steam production, especially where significant load changes occur.

Carbon dioxide can concentrate in steam and condensate making neutralizing amine treatment impractical. Carbon dioxide levels can be relatively low in steam exiting a boiler at only a few ppm, but if there are areas where it becomes “trapped” and can accumulate, concentrations can reach extremely high levels into the hundreds or even thousands of ppm.

CO2 is a non-condensable gas. It has a distribution ratio in the steam piping and condenses at points throughout the system. At the boiling point, the solubility of the gas in water is extremely low. The solubility of the CO2 is actually lower in the condensate than it is in the steam. For the CO2 to escape from the steam into the water it will accumulate in the steam space just above the water level until the partial pressure becomes high enough for the CO2 in the incoming steam to be able to exit into the condensate. This creates a steady state condition of CO2 coming in and exiting, but an area of severe localized corrosion occurs where the carbon dioxide concentration is high.

The highest CO2 concentration normally occurs just above the condensate water level. If there is an area where condensation is occurring and running down pipes or the sides of vessels, the CO2 concentration will be very high and the pH will be about 5.3 – 5.5 in that location creating high corrosion rates.

The solubility of CO2 increases dramatically as the condensate temperature falls below 212 °F. When there is an accumulation of CO2 in an area and the condensate temperature is relatively low, the amount of carbon dioxide going into solution will be extremely high. Where low-pressure steam is used that contains CO2 and the heat exchange process has relatively close temperature differentials between the steam and the condensate, there is potential for high uptake of the CO2 into the condensate and localized low pH.

Neutralizing amines are selected in an effort to condense in the right concentrations to carbon dioxide condensation levels throughout the steam system. Neutralizing amines cannot control corrosion where this localized accumulation of carbon dioxide occurs since the high CO2 overwhelms the demand for the amine. Even point source addition of amine may not be able to satisfy the demand.

Where the concentrating effect of CO2 occurs, methods of reducing the problem include eliminating or minimizing CO2 in the steam, venting off the CO2 in the localized area, eliminating condensate in the area, applying a filming amine or metal passivator, or using higher temperature steam and increasing condensate temperature to reduce the CO2 content in the condensate.

Directions for use :

RXSOL Zyme 700 FN is formulated to degrade excess residual waste products in shipboard sanitation pipe work systems, holding tanks and marine sewage treatment plants. The specialised strains in RXSOL Zyme 700 FN will digest grease, fats, sewage, starch and other organic compounds. The degradation of paper, protein and waste product residuals is greatly increased, and the odours that these produce, are reduced.

The bacteria in RXSOL Zyme 700 FN will colonise the waste organic material which lines the pipework/tank system and degrade the waste until the system is clean. The biological activity in the marine sewage treatment plant is greatly increased, so the plant can thus handle more waste. The obnoxious smells in toilet areas and scuppers, normally associated with overloaded or blocked systems, are reduced.

Using Procedure: 

Sewage treatment plant :

Direct dosing to the sewage treatment plant or via the nearest toilet will greatly enhance the biological activity and keep the plant at peak operating efficiency.

A)    On ships except passenger vessels

Ineffective or septic sewage treatment can be reactivated and maintained in peak operating efficiency by dosing Rxsol Zyme 700 FN direct in the tank or via the nearest toilet. To reactivate the plant, 1 kg Rxsol Zyme 700 FN  should be mixed with 10-15 litres of hand hot (35°C) fresh water, left for 10-15 minutes (stirring periodically) for the bacteria to activate before dosing into the tank daily until the system is operating efficiently. Maintenance dosing of 0.1 - 0.25 kg weekly will keep the system operating effectively. Replacing the toilet cleaner in use by Rxsol Zyme BTC (biological toilet cleaner) will dose millions of specialised bacteria into the system. These powerful bacteria will digest organic material lining the pipes and boost the bacterial activity in the sewage treatment plant, keeping it operating at peak efficiency.

Passenger vessels

The applications is the same as mentioned above, but the dose rates are different. The dose rate depends on the number of people on board the vessel. As a rule of thumb use 50 gram per m3 of the volume of the sewage tank. Then a weekly dosage of 10 gram per m3 of the volume of the sewage tank.

For  cruise vessel with a sewage tank on 100 m3 and 2500 people and on a two weeks cruise dose as below

Initial dosage: (50 g/m3 x 100 m3 ):1000 = 5 kg
Weekly dosage: (10 g/m3 x 100 m3 ):1000 x 2 weeks = 2 kg

Tank Cleaning

Holding tanks can be cleaned periodically or prior to entry without the use of dangerous toxic chemicals. Grey and black water holding tanks, sewage tanks, sewage treatment plant should be flooded and pumped empty to clear excess soil before cleaning. Holding tanks must be fitted with an air manifold connected to a low pressure air line of sufficient volume to gently turn the mass of water within the tank. In sewage treatment tanks the normal air supply will suffice.

The tank should be filled to 75% capacity with fresh or sea water and the air supply turned on. Approximately 0.5 kg of Rxsol Zyme 700 FN in 5 to 10 litres of fresh hand hot (35°C) water should be mixed and left for 10-15 minutes before dosing into the tank. Dosing can be either direct or via the nearest toilet. The tank should then be filled and left with the air on for at least 48 hours. The dose rate should be approximately 0.5 kg per 500 litres tank capacity with a minimum dose of 5 kg. Although Rxsol Zyme 700 FN formulated for use in cold (15°C minimum) sea water, performance will improve with lukewarm (35°C) fresh water or sea water.
Pipe cleaning

Maintenance dosing will keep galley and sewage pipes clean and clear of organic residual wastes. A liquid solution should be prepared by mixing of 0.5 kg of Rxsol Zyme 700 FN in 15 to 20 litres of hand hot (35°C) fresh water. Stir it and, if possible, leave for 15 minutes to reactivate the bacteria. Whilst constantly agitating this solution, 1 litre should be dosed into sinks, scuppers, showers, drains, waste disposal units, etc. each evening until the blockage is cleared. A maintenance dose once or twice a week can then be applied to keep the pipes in clean condition. Harsh toxic cleaners (acids, caustics, disinfectants) should not be used as these will kill off the bacterial action in the pipes. Alternatively, the pipes should be isolated and filled with the solution and left for up to 48 hours before draining. If necessary, further applications should be made until drains run clear.

Direction for use
For rust removal the surfaces to be treated should be free form loose materials, flaking paint, dirt or oil. In most cases diluted solution of RXSOL-16-1011-RR-210 , can be applied by brush ranging from 10-50% and left to react for 5 - 40 minutes then  the residues should be rinsed off thoroughly with clean water jet . Smaller objects can be soaked in plastic container. After cleaning, rinse items thoroughly with a water jet.

• For aluminium , only diluted solution up to 10 - 25% can be used and rinse with in 10- 30mins.
• For stainless Steel Disc Cleaning (never use on copper, brass or bronze parts), dilute to 4 - 10 parts water, and immerse 
  from 1 - 3 hours depending on the severity of the job concerned. Cleaning will be accelerated with elevate4d temperatures
  up to 60°C and agitaion. After cleaning rinse thoroughly with clean water.

For best performance on aluminium use RXSOL Degreaser for degreasing as it has a neutral pH. Paintwork :
RXSOL-16-1011-RR-210  should be diluted with water  1:4 . Then solution can be applied by brushing, spraying
for  10 - 20 minutes the residues should be rinsed off thoroughly with high pressure  water.

Potable Water Tanks

RXSOL-32-3113-025 can  be slug dosed or fed to the tank with a  beta metering system. Dose 0.42 liters of RXSOL-32-3113-025 per 10 tons of water to achieve 42 ppm. This dosage will give approximately 12 ppm of SiO2.

NOTE: Water treated with RXSOL-32-3113-025  should not be used in boiler systems.

Permanent Fresh Water Ballast Tanks

The recommended initial dose is 32 ppm silica. To achieve this, dose 1.1 liters of RXSOL-32-3113-025 per 10 tons of fresh water.

On a tank previously dosed with RXSOL-32-3113-025 , 1 liter RXSOL-32-3113-025 per 20 tons should achieve a level of 32 ppm of silica. To ensure a proper level of RXSOL-32-3113-025  is established, and check the label with Rxsol Silica Test Kit .

Using Procedure: 

Manual Cleaning

For manual cleaning of separator parts and machinery parts.Make a solution between 5-20% concentration depending on how dirty Tank and  equipment to be cleaned is. Both oil and lime will be solved with time, let soak for at least 2 hours. After 2 hours the parts can be cleaned using by High Pressure Machine rinsing or brushing.

Cleaning In Place of Separator

For the lube oil separator use a 20% solution

For the fuel oil separator use a 10% solution

Recommended cleaning temperature is 70-90oC (158-194oF). A normal cleaning cycle is between 1 to 3 hours depending on the dirtiness and character. If the separator has very hard deposits the cleaning cycle may have to be repeated with new cleaning fluid.

Lube Oil Tank :

  • Instead of recirculation cleaning the  RXSOL  Lube Oils Cleaner  can  injected into the Butter   worth system . Kindly make the solution 0.5 -5% and inject same. Depending on the tank size  and  height  fill  the  necessary  amount of  freshwater or  seawater  into  the  service  tank .
  • Butter worth all tanks to be  cleaned 1-1,5  hour  using  the water from the service tank .
  • Heat  the  water by  means  of  heating  coils,  cargo  heat exchanger or going via the Butter worth heater.
  • The pre-cleaning temperature should be between 70 and 80°C.
  • Pump the waste water from the tanks to be cleaned back to service tank (overtop).

It is necessary chemically cleaned to remove old rust & scale deposits before treatment.

DIP CLEANING: -
Small parts may be dipped in an open bucket or tank-containing RXSOL-18-1011 after dipping immediately removes the metals parts from bath. Finally wash the system with water on complete drying. Acid proof gloves should be worn during the operation.

Using Procedure: 

WIPPING OR BRUSHING: -
Large components may be wiped down Rags, Sponges, or Brushes soaked in RXSOL-18-1011 .Synthetic sponges & brushes should be checked for compatibility with RXSOL-18-1011 prior to use. And finally wash the system with water after 2-3 hours on black coating , incase where RXSOL-RC-1011/B dries leaving a coat of white sludge formation wipe out with a cloth and repeat the application then allow to dry. Again wash the system with water. The surface is now ready for primer.

MANUAL DEGREASING : May be applied neat or diluted with water up to  1 part to 15 – 20 parts  by using a cloth ,brush or spray. Using Procedure: 

Application-METHOD:- ( Dose Rate )
1)BY WASHING MACHINE : For direct injection into tank This will require a solution strength between 0.03 and 1.5%, (0.3-15 lts per thousend lts of wash water).
2)BY RECIRCULATION METHOD : Working strength should be 0.05 and 1% ( 0.5–10 Ltres per ton wash water ) by weight in fresh water , based on capacity of the equipment . This solution can be re-used until no longer effective.
3) Spot cleaning. RXSOL-20-3022-025 can be hand sprayed neat or diluted up to 5 parts water and allow 15 to 20 minutes contact time to penetrate deposits . Finally wash off with water jet . The best results will be obtained when wash water is heated to 40-60°C .

Note: 

Excellent for use with pressure - washing equipment and for industrial application. It is suitable for stainless steel tanks having, epoxy / phenolic linings
