Keep RO systems clean with Acidic-Membrane-Cleaner
Acidic Membrane Cleaner is essentially an inorganic scale cleaner as well as iron deposit remover formulized specially for reverse osmosis and nano-filteration systems. It removes iron fouling from silica and can be used for removing calcium carbonate scaling. The product contains organic dispersants that breaks down colloidal clay deposits and delivers better efficacy to biocides by penetrating into the surface film. The product efficiency0078 removes iron, silica, metal oxides, silicates, metal hydroxides and other particulate-based foulants from the RO membranes. It also removes phosphates, silt and calcium carbonate deposits effectively.
The Membrane Cleaner is a highly concentrated acidic solution that has been buffered to ensure pH control. Its performance can be enhanced by adding high or low pH cleaners to the cleaning solution. The liquid formulation should be used as directed by the membrane manufacturer or equipment supplier. The cleaning temperature and pH are very important when using the acidic membrane cleaner. As it is buffered, the cleaning solution will stabilise at pH 3.6.It contains high level of active substance that removes foul within 2-3 hours after application. The product is an aqueous solution of citric acid that is combined with a non-ionic bio dispersant. It is thus classified as non-toxic but it is corrosive to carbon steel. Therefore, all pipework, chemical tanks and pumps must be made of acid resistant materials.
The solution should be used as directed by the manufacturer or supplier. It should be prepared with chlorine free water that gives a 4% w/w solution. Every 1kg of product is efficient for preparing a 25kg of solution with water. During application, the cleaning product is affected by the amount of deposition of scale and foul. It also affects the time required for the cleaning solution to act. Generally, the solution needs 2-3 hours to react and completely dissolve the deposits. It is highly effective when alternately soaked and recycled through the membrane system for removal of heavy scale and iron deposits. If the cleaning solution turns from brown to red during chemical reaction between the solution and deposition, the solution needs to be changed as it becomes completely non-reactive on turning red. The membrane is recommended to be cleaned at 25-30 degree centigrade. After the elapsed cleaning time, the membrane needs to be washed with ample amount of fresh water, until it reaches neutralization of pH value of water.
Since the product is an acidic cleaning solution, it needs to be disposed of carefully. The cleaning solution should always be neutralized with alkali before disposal. Acidic Membrane Cleaner is available in convenient 25kgs pack, which reduced repurchase and thus is economical. Under normal storage conditions, the product has a shelf life of 2 years. RxMarine provides appropriate safety data sheet with all its products. It is essential to read the instruction carefully before handling the product. Since the product is acidic in nature, it should be handled with immense care and precaution. Always use proper protective gear when working with the product. In case of any contact with the product, immediately seek medical attention. It is essential to maintain proper operating conditions for the membrane in order to reduce membrane fouling.
