Get clean tanks with Hydro Carbon Remover
Tanks that deal with non-aqueous liquids such as petroleum fuels, crude oil etc is bound to greased and contaminated with hydrocarbons. The contamination takes place in both vapour and water phases. This contamination poses potential hazards to health environment and resource risk. Though complete recovery of oil is not feasible in most of the cases, a responsible remover that helps in removing free particles to the maximum extent is needed. Hydro Carbon Remover efficiently plays this role.
After cleaning of the tanks with solvent base tank cleaning materials, the traces of hydrocarbon that are left behind becomes essential to be cleaned in order to remove all possibilities of contamination of the next cargo with this hydrocarbon particles. Hydro Carbon Remover is a natural absorbent solution that is used in the tanks to clean up hydrocarbon residue. A neutral cleaning product that is based on highly efficient emulsifying, dissolving and low foaming agents. Additionally, these cleaning agents are non-ionic and surface active agents too. The remover is specially formulated for the removal of animal, vegetable and mineral oils as well as cleaning of fats. The remover is widely used as an after treatment agent where cleaning has been carried out with other tank cleaning agents and the residues need to be cleared off. The remover is suitable for cleaning of aluminium and zinc-silicate coated tanks too apart from other material tanks.
After cleaning of the tanks with tank cleaning solutions, it is essential to give a hot fresh water rinse at a temperature of approx. 50-60 degree centigrade to remove all superficial traces before treating it with hydrocarbon remover. For oils that are drying or semi-drying in nature, a pre wash with cold water is suggested immediately after the cargo has been removed. This would retard the oxidation and hardening process of oil residues. The hydrocarbon remover is sprayed directly on the hot tank surface and is left for at least 30 minutes to act. The duration would depend upon the level of contamination. After the lapsed time, the area is rinsed with hot chloride free water. In case of using fresh water, the tanks are steamed afterwards to remove traces of chlorides.
Another method of application of hydrocarbon remover is the recirculation method. The process involves preparing a chemical solution in an empty tank next to the pump room and circulating it via the automatic system pump and heater for tank cleaning. This process needs calculation of the solution tank, pipeline and pump capacities. The solution is circulated for a period of 2-6 hours depending upon the degree of contamination. The water temperature needs to be kept at 20-60 degree centigrade. After the circulation process is over, the tanks are rinsed thoroughly with water.
RX Marine provides for high degree of hydrocarbon removers (RXSOL-20-2008-025) that are suitable for heavy-duty tank cleaning with ease. The solution comes in convenient packaged containers thus proving cost effective and reducing re-purchase. The solution is a slightly yellow viscous fluid that is non-corrosive in nature. The product contains 89-94% of active matter thus yielding it highly effective. All chemical products come with usage and safety instructions. RX Marine urges its consumers to read the instruction carefully before use. It is essential to wear protective gear for hands, eyes and face whenever working with chemical products.
