Borax as a cleaning booster
How Does Borax Clean?
Borax releases hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Borates bonds with other particles to keep ingredients dispersed evenly in a mixture, which maximizes the surface area of active particles to enhance cleaning power.
Borax acts as Bleach - When Borax comes in contact with water immediately some water molecules changto hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). This reaction is more favorable in hotter water.
Borax is alkaline cleaner - Due to its alkaline properties ( pH of borax is about 9.5 ) its basic solution increasing the effectiveness of bleach and other cleaners.
Borax works as buffer - Maintaining a stable pH needed to maintain cleansing chemical reactions.
Borax as disinfectant - The presence of boron in borax salt ( Mol. Formula Na2B4O7.10H2O ) inhibit the metabolic processes of many organisms. This characteristic allows borax to disinfect and kill unwanted pests.
