To avoid the removed solids from redepositing, the first return flow—up to 15% of the cleaning tank volume—should be routed to the drain in cases of severe fouling. For multi-pass systems, cleaning each pass independently will get the greatest results. If the removed material causes the solution to become turbid or discolored, it should be thrown out. Before cleaning more passes, a new solution needs to be made. Before putting the system back in service, rinse it with permeate.
