MUSCAT CHEMICAL TAG::
Perchloric acid is a mineral acid with the formula HClO4. Usually found as an aqueous solution, this colorless compound is a stronger acid than sulfuric acid, nitric acid and hydrochloric acid. It is a powerful oxidizer when hot, but aqueous solutions up to approximately 70% by weight at room temperature are generally safe, only showing strong acid features and no oxidizing properties.
This corrosive chemical carries hazards typical of most acids; it is harmful if swallowed, causing digestive and respiratory tract burns, and if exposed to the outside of your body can cause eye and skin burns.
Perchloric acid (HClO4), an oxygen acid of chlorine, is strongly acidic in nature. Hydrates of perchloric acid are obtained on its dissolution in water.
Perchloric acid up to concentrations of 72% has properties similar to other strong mineral acids. It is a highly corrosive substance and causes severe burns on contact with the eyes, skin, and mucous membranes.
