Tetraethylammonium bromide may be used: As an organic template for synthesizing zeolite beta via hydrothermal crystallization. As a catalyst for the oxidative coupling of aldehydes or alcohols with thiophenols or disulfides to form thioesters
Tetraethylammonium bromide (TEAB) catalyzes the synthesis of thioesters by the oxidative coupling of aldehydes or alcohols with thiols or disulfides. It is used as a catalyst, along with o-iodoxybenzoic acid (IBX), in the oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides and primary carboxamides to one-carbon dehomologated nitriles.
Tetraethylammonium (TEA) is a simple quaternary ammonium compound. It is primarily used experimentally to block potassium channels (Hille, 2001). The TEA molecule is thought to physically enter the pore and block the channel.
