Procedure:
. 20 drops of sample was taken in a beaker.
. Adding 15 drops of Ammonia-Sodium sulphite solution.
. Adding 2 drops of Dithizone solution.
. Adding 20 drops of chloroform to the above mixture.
. Shake well and allow the phases to separate.
. Note the colour of thte lower layer.
Result: A deep orange colour indicates the presence of lead.
(This test can detect upto 4 x 10-6 ppm of lead)
Test for Lead in water:
Reagents: Ammonia-Sodium sulphite solution
Dithizone solution
Chlorofrom
